Pigeon Tower

One of my New Years resolutions was to use the Saturday I used to spend finishing the Church magazine, for some walking !

The first of my Saturday walks was Ramble 11 from "Rambling for Pleasure around Reading - First Series".  It was a nice day in the middle of a very wet winter. As you'll see, I hadn't really thought that through properly !

Today's Walk

Setting off from the end of City Road
Down through the woods

The Pigeon Tower
Looking through
Up close

Now it's starting to get muddy
It took some time to cross this mini-lake !
About to cross the motorway
Id' driven under a hundred times, but this was my first time walking over this bridge
The tree felling had really churned up this path
That's more like it !
The footpath completely submerged.
Up the ramp to the A340
Looking back along the M4
More flooding of the footpath
Out of the woods
A last style
Sulham Church
The last 'puddle' to cross before getting back to tarmac !

Total time - about 1 hour 50 minutes (including slight navigation error) !
Steps : 17,892 - over the whole day.
