- To have somewhere to store my photos and recollections of some of the walks I've been on.
- To have somewhere to experiment with Google's Blogger platform.
Let's see what develops !
Blog Notes :
Blog Notes :
- Please click on the 'Read More' in relevant entries to see photos and other details.
- Click on any photo for a 'light box' view of all photos in that entry
- Entries are against the date of the walk, not the date of me posting it on the blog. On the remote chance you're returning to this blog a 2nd time, you may have to click about to find details you've not seen before as I'm not always posting walks in the order I do them.
- Locations marked against each entry is the start point of the walk.
To explain a few common references :
- We invented my "Walking Saturday" by reserving a Saturday most months when we'd stay at home. Val would go to a craft group she runs called 'Crafty Space'. Determined to use my free time to go for a walk, I started this Blog to record these and other walks.
- I have a pedometer which records my daily step count. All my steps are recorded on a Nintendo DS. I have a daily target and the program gives me a green smiley face if I achieve my target. If every day of the month is green, it's a green month !
- I have used various programs to record my walks. I mainly started with Google's "My Tracks", which saves files which Google Earth can read. Alas this was both flaky and is now discontinued. I slowly moved over to using ViewRanger. However I also discovered that Google keeps track of everywhere you (or at least your phone) go every day. This can be shown on www.google.co.uk/maps/timeline.
