April Totals

Monthly Average : 8,117 steps
Best Day : 16,290 - Thursday 30th April

A lot of April went unrecorded, including a lot of walking in Scotland  Of the days I had my step counter, Thursday 30th April was best.  For reasons not currently remembered, I spent some of the day out by Royal Berks hospital.

Tobermory and Aros Park

We had one full day on Mull and wanted to fit in both walking and exploring the whole island by car - so the walking had to fit into a morning.  We set off from our B&B and walked down to Aros Park.  Each waterfall we passed was bigger than the previous one and we ended up taking a side path to see the largest one before looping the lake and heading for home.

Three Walks around Iona - South, High & North

After several days of travel both to and through the Scottish Inner Hebrides, this was our first chance to walk.  Iona isn't big, so I was determined to walk it all !

Fitting it all in amongst exploring the town and abbey wasn't easy, so we didn't quite manage to explore every beach I'd hoped, but over three walks during the day, we reached the southernmost point, (very nearly) the northernmost point, as well as the highest point on Iona.

Our 1st Walk - to the South of the Island

Our 2nd Walk - to the highest point on the island

Our 3rd Walk - to the North point of the island.

Training Walk #3

Again I couldn't join the main group on their training walk, so I did a slightly modified version of my own.

I started close to Tilehurst Station & went west towards Pangbourne, picking up the Thames Path at Purley.  Cross the river to Whitechurch and back east along the north of the Thames towards Reading, picking up a small part of the Chiltern Way Southern Extension at Mapledurham.  Cross the river again at Reading Lock and back west along the Thames Paths .

It was advertised as 15 miles.  I ended up doing 15.9 miles.  It took me 5h 10mins (4h 51mins excluding rest stops) .  I then walked back home, adding 1.2 miles in 27 mins.

Selsey Bill

A short walk as we had my parents with us.  We repeated a favorite walk - along the coast in a loop at the tip of Selsey Bill.  Afterwards we popped along to Bognor Regis.
